Mornings in the Saltsman-Hall household are akin to the startup procedure on the Space Shuttle. I’d like to give you all a taste:

6:30 AM: Cell phone Alarm Goes off. I normally put it in some other part of the house so I have to get up and find it.

6:35 AM: Cell phone goes off again. I’ve moved it next to the bed so I don’t have to get up again.

6:40 AM: Cell phone again.

6:45 AM: Cell phone for the final time. I breathe a sigh of relief and fall back to sleep.

7:02 AM: The iMac starts up and lets out a loud chime. I may or may not hear this.

7:04 AM: The iMac starts playing a song that I change periodically. Leighanne made me change “My Sharona” after only one day, but normally it goes about a week. I get up, go into the other room, and hit the snooze button there. Coffee maker turns itself on, if I remembered to set it up the night before.

7:09 – 7:45 or so: Snooze the music every five minutes. I may or may not have moved to the couch.

7:50: Finally manage to get up- turn off alarm and fire up my work email and check the news, normally put on NPR. Drink Coffee

8:05: Hit the shower

8:20: Plan on getting dressed, see Leighanne still sleeping in bed. I climb back in with her.

8:35: Look at the time and freak out.

8:36: Have put on pants.

8:37: Check email, maybe watch some You Tube.

8:45: Rest of clothing is on.

8:50: Say my goodbyes to Leighanne, who has managed to get up at this point.

8:55: Get Coffee at Has Beans

9:00: On the train platform, iPod set to NPR Podcasts or The Daily Show.

9:35: At the office. Check to see if I have or have not beat John here.

John’s company called me today and officially offered me a position with them! John and I will have similar jobs, but working in different groups. I’ll be starting at the end of August.

John scored free Knicks tickets last night. Pictures can be found here. We had great seats, too. I never realized how goddamn big pro ball players are. At halftime, one of them actually ate a cheerleader on the court.
