So about a month ago Danny Sokal had this link up on his Facebook page. Conan O’Brien visit some historical re-enactors who are playing baseball like it was 1864. One of these individuals is someone we went college with, Nell. Nell and Conan really hit it off and this video is hilarious not only ’cause it’s Conan, but Nell totally steals the show. Flippin’ Amazing.

Steven Bach died last week.
Oddly enough, I was up at Bennington (for work) when I received the news. He was 70 but it just seems too soon. There was so much life in him. I took Literary Journalism with him senior year, and it wasn’t just that he was brilliant and witty and had so much to teach us about writing and how to do it well; he had such a generosity of spirit. The day after my senior reading, he sent me an email full of encouragement about my writing and the possibilities he saw for me. I saved it, and I still read it when I begin to feel that those possibilities have dimmed or diminished. I studied with him for only a term and yet he made such a mark on my life.
He gave our class a piece of advice about writing that I still follow: When you’re writing and an unexpected word comes to you, go with it. It’s your subconscious mind pointing the direction for the writing. I love that.
Anyone else study with Steven?

It seems we’re all super busy and not really posting. Yet I still check EOJ! So I just wanted to make a “non-post” post to say: YAY!
