So over the week-end, Leighanne and I took part in the Disorientation Game as part of Conflux 2007. We met at a location in Williamsburg, and 21 of us were divided into teams of 7 each. We then gave up our cell phones and were blindfolded and placed in vans that dropped us off in separate locations. We then had to try to beat the other teams back to the starting point. We had a “guide” with us that would give the team random rules, and he could call for the van if we got into trouble.
My group was dropped off in a park, right next to a country club. There were several golfers who looked stunned as a van pulled up, unloaded a bunch of blindfolded people, and then sped away. We fumbled around for 20 or so minutes trying to get our bearings but we quickly found our way to an above-ground subway line. Although the rules prevented us from getting on the subway, we were able to follow the line back towards Williamsburg and the starting point about 6 miles away. Our guide imposed some interesting rules on us, such as making us name one person a dictator for 20 minutes, and blindfolding two of the members for 30 minutes. We were stopped by the police at one point, a guy made us stop and pray, and we took a mandatory time-out where we sat in a small gazebo and drank beer. All in all, it was a really fun experience (even though Leighanne’s team beat mine by about 13 minutes). It was interesting to see how a group of strangers comes together to work on a problem like that. Our group had someone that was semi-familiar with the area, so that made it pretty effortless, and once we found the subway, we were essentially home free, but it was fun nonetheless.

This one came to me on the way to the subway the other morning:
Question: Why are sex slave traders always late?
Answer: Because they run behind.

My Aunts & Uncles live there too. Monica’s been there, I used to live there when I was little.  There’s not much to do, but this sounds like fun. Of course not North Dakota, say yah to dah U.P, EH! Â
Plus my sister-in-law is Preggers! I’m going to be an Aunt Shan. She’s due sometime in Dec. Yay!Â
